Sweet Almond (Prunus dulcis)

Exposure: Full sun to light shade. Zones 6-9
Soil: Well-drained circumneutral garden soil
Growth habits: Almonds are attractive, upright growing, medium sized trees to 30 feet, prized for their profuse, pinkish-white, fragrant flowers and beautiful architectural form. Almonds are somewhat self fertile but it is best to plant two varieties for best nut production. In our climate almonds don’t usually bear nuts due to their early flowering, however our Ukranian varieties were specially selected for their very late blooming characteristics, blooming at the same time as peaches, thus escaping late frosts most years and making almond nut production possible in our region for the first time. Almonds ripen in fall.
Landscape uses: Our Ukranian almond varieties are handsome trees suitable for use as specimen trees, forest gardens, or in the home orchard.
Edible/Medicinal properties: Almond nuts are very nutritious, high in fiber and beneficial oils, and can be eaten fresh or dried, processed into flour or almond milk, or used in cooking.
Pollination: Two varieties needed for pollination.

$49.00 / 7 gal.
