Exposure: Full sun. Zones 2-7.
Soil: Easy to grow. Prefers well-drained organic
soils but is quite tolerant of a variety fo soils.
Growth habits: A sturdy multiple-stemmed species
rose 4 to 6 feet tall and wide with bristly stems and fragrant,
single 3 inch rose flowers in early summer followed by bright orange
large rose hips dramatically displayed against the dark green foliage.
Landscape uses: Shrub borders, privacy or security
hedges, forest gardens.
Edible/Medicinal properties: Highly-nurirtious
fruits with loads of vitamin C are eaten fresh, stewed or pureed,
and can make the finest jelly. Flowers can be used for teas and
syrups.
