Exposure: Full sun to part shade
Soil: Moist
Growth habits: Vigorous, self-fertile, very cold-hardy,
reaching 10 to 12 feet at maturity. Dislikes summer heat, so more
suitable for plantings above 3,000 feet elevation.
Landscape uses: Provides shade and habitat for
many other plants, excellent as a pond edge or hedge plant.
Usefulness: Fruit is sweeter than American
elderberries, but has all hte same antiviral properties.
