Evening Primrose (Oenothera biennis)

Plant Characteristics: Produces bloom after lovely yellow bloom evening to morning. Full sun, tolerant of poor and dry soils. Flowers 3-6 feet in height.
Harvest: Oil is extracted from the seeds. Roots can be harvested and eaten as a vegetable, shoots as a salad.
Primary Benefits: Oil in seeds contains gammalinoleic acid (GLA) which is a powerful anti-blood-clotter and offers many other health benefits. Eases PMS, helps withdrawal from alcohol and eases post-drinking depression, prevents hangovers, encourages regeneration of the liver, calms hyper-active children and more. Much scientific research has been done on Evening Primrose. Buttery yellow flowers are absolutely gorgeous in bloom.
